Martin McCrossan has scooped the coveted best tour feature award at the National Tourism Awards for Excellence this week. The Gold Award was presented to Martin at a reception in Dublin Castle by John McGuiness TD Minister of Education, Learning and Employment. Among those present where many of the luminaries in the Irish tourism industry from both sides of the border. The National Tourism Awards of Excellence are now in their 18th year and are presented annually by CIE Tours to recognise excellence in all aspects of Irish tourism. The winners are chosen from independent evaluations given by international customers. The importance of this award going to Martin McCrossan was hugely significant as it beat off stiff competition from tours and providers throughout the whole of Ireland. After receiving his award McCrossan said he was both honoured and delighted that his tour has been recognised at the tourism award ceremony as the Best Tour Feature available in Ireland as voted by their international customers. "Getting National recognition like this will certainly help put City Tours on the map and it is also a great vote of confidence in Derry and the North West. People are generally very interested to learn about our history and now like to visit the places they remembered hearing about on the news. getting the visitors to come here has been an uphill struggle." He admits " but once we get the here we make sure they have such a good time that they will want to come back time and time again. We are conscious that everyone doing a tour with us is a potential ambassador for the city, a lot of our business is word of mouth so it`s very important for us that all the visitors go back home with memories of a visit which has been memorable for all the right reasons." |
